Blockchain is becoming increasingly present in our contemporary lexicon, in the media and as part of company strategy. Online transactions conducted over the distributed web, as well as other concepts such as smart contracts, tokens, ICOs, cryptocurrencies and a great many others inherent to blockchain technology, require close analysis to fit them into traditional legal categories and to check that they do not contravene the provisions of prevailing law, particularly financial legislation. In this video, Leopoldo González-Echenique, head of Madrid office's financial regulatory practice, speaks of the main legal challenges that blockchain will generate in the foreseeable future.
