International law firm Herbert Smith Freehills has advised EDF, a global leader in low-carbon energy solutions, on its acquisition of a 23% interest in Bboxx Kenya, a subsidiary of the UK-based company Bboxx and next generation utility which has already provided numerous Kenyans with domestic solar kits.
Building on their existing joint venture in Togo, EDF and Bboxx aim to deliver reliable and affordable low-carbon electricity to more than 2 million Kenyans by 2025.
The Herbert Smith Freehills team was led by Paris partner Rebecca Major, working on corporate aspects with of counsel Paul Morton, and associate Firas Albani, supported by London-based senior associate Joanne Elson and associate Letizia Corsi on financing elements.
