Herbert Smith Freehills announces largest ever round of senior associate promotions in Asia

Leading international law firm Herbert Smith Freehills has announced its largest ever round of senior associate promotions as part of its ongoing expansion in Asia.

26 promotions have been made in eight of the firm's nine Asia offices and across its corporate, disputes and finance practices. The round, listed below, also includes five promotions by the firm's busy associate firm in Jakarta, Hiswara Bunjamin & Tandjung.

60% of the new senior associates are women, and 81% are of Asian ethnicity.

"We have ambitious plans for Asia and, alongside new hires, successful expansion depends on a solid and talented pipeline of lawyers across our nine-office network," said Asia managing partner May Tai.

"This promotion round also reflects solid progress in building the diverse practice that we want and that our clients demand in Asia – a practice that truly reflects the region and communities in which we work."

These promotions follow the announcement of six new partners and seven new counsel across Herbert Smith Freehills' Asia and associate firm network in April 2022.
