Earthshot call for nominations 2025

Do you know an innovator or business with a solution to repair and restore our planet? Now's your chance to nominate them for The Earthshot Prize 2025. We need your nominations by Friday, 8 November 2024.

The Earthshot Prize is a global environmental initiative which scours the globe for breakthrough solutions that can solve the biggest environmental challenges.

The search for next year's Earthshot Prize winner has begun and, as a Global Alliance member, Herbert Smith Freehills is proud to be able to submit game-changing solutions to Earthshot's expert advisory panel for consideration.

The solution should fit within The Earthshot Prize's priority areas:

• Protect and Restore Nature

• Clean our Air

• Revive our Oceans

• Build a Waste-Free World

• Fix our Climate

This time last year, partner Gavin Williams nominated Advanced Thermovoltaic Systems (ATS) – which has developed technology to turn industrial heat waste into electricity.

Gavin has known Eric Beynon, who now works at ATS, for 25 years. Gavin said, "ATS is thrilled by the profile the prize has given them as they seek to raise funding to develop their technology."

How The Earthshot Prize works

The Earthshot Prize awards £1 million each to the five winners every year. All 15 winners and finalists will enter The Earthshot Fellowship Programme and receive a year of dedicated support. Finalists and winners are given an incredible platform to amplify their work, as well as tailored support from Herbert Smith Freehills and The Earthshot Prize's network of NGOs, businesses, governments, funders and expert mentors.

How to take part

If you'd like to submit a nomination, please follow the process below.

STAGE 1: Provide key information: First complete a key information form. This includes an outline of the solution and some basic information. This form is now live here. The deadline to complete this is 8 November. 

STAGE 2: Provide more detailed solution information: We will review solutions as they come in and successful nominees will be invited to complete a full submission. The full submission must be completed by the nominee by Wednesday, 11 December 2024.

After we submit our nominations to The Earthshot Prize, they are screened as part of a rigorous assessment process culminating in the selection of five winners by Prince William and the Earthshot Prize Council.
