Partner Hywel Jenkins and Regulatory Consultant Cat Dankos from the Herbert Smith Freehills' Financial Services Regulatory (FSR) team have co-edited and contributed chapters to the updated edition of 'A Practitioner's Guide to the UK Financial Services Rulebooks'.

The book includes chapters penned by partners Jenny Stainsby, Chris Ninan, Jon Ford, Susannah Cogman, Clive Cunningham, Marina Reason, Kelesi Blundell, Consultant Andrew Procter, Senior Associate Jack Moore and Professional Support Lawyer Pat Horton.  The effort was also ably and generously supported by the wider FSR team who helped with proofreading, research and numerous other tasks.

A Practitioner’s Guide to the UK Financial Services Rulebooks, published by Sweet & Maxwell, is the leading guide and commentary on the Handbook of the Financial Conduct Authority and the Rulebook of the Prudential Regulation Authority.

Fully revised, the 8th edition covers all significant regulatory developments and how they affect financial institutions' and individuals' day-to-day operations, and features expert guidance and commentary from some of the foremost financial services legal practitioners in the UK, in Herbert Smith Freehills and further afield.

Commenting on the new edition, Hywel Jenkins said: "We're very pleased to have put together another edition of this prestigious textbook.  A lot of hard work goes into the update given the breadth of the rulebooks and the amount of change which the financial services industry is constantly subject to.  We're very pleased with the end product and hope that our clients and fellow practitioners continue to find it a helpful overview and summary."

Since the last edition, financial services regulation has become even more complex and multi-layered, and this book provides valuable summaries and signposts key content in the Handbook and Rulebook. This comprehensive new edition has been reorganised and there is now a new chapter on Insurance, Mortgage and Banking Conduct of Business, a chapter dealing with both Market Abuse and Financial Crime, and a separate chapter on Product Governance and Intervention, as well as new content on the consumer duty, the individual accountability regime and the continued evolution of the UK regulatory landscape post-Brexit.
