The Arab Intellectual Property Mediation and Arbitration Society (AIPMAS) (based in Amman, Jordan) recently held an extraordinary meeting where it was unanimously agreed to establish the Arab Center for Dispute Resolution (ACDR).
AIPMAS is a non-profit organisation established by practitioners in the field of intellectual property (IP) in the Arab region, headed by Dr Talal Abu Ghazaleh. Its mission is to bring together IP professionals and practitioners in the region and to help build awareness and understanding of IP issues and their dynamics.
The ACDR has been established to progress AIPMAS' aim of encouraging the settlement of intellectual property disputes by ADR. Mr Abu-Ghazaleh has indicated that it will have the capacity to facilitate settlements in multiple languages, with a particular focus on domain name disputes.
