As part of our virtual events planned to take place this week, we were delighted to host our live webinar on Digital Transformation in Africa on 27 May. Journalist and BBC presenter, Lerato Mbele moderated the discussion with members of our digital law team, Martin Hevey, Alexandra Neri and Rohan Isaacs. The panel opened with introducing digital transformation and the shape it is taking in Africa, looking at various examples of companies engaged in digitalisation projects in the continent. The panel also discussed the regulatory environment in Africa, the practical and legal challenges being faced by clients trying to digitalise, and ways to anticipate and manage disputes arising along this journey. The panellists also covered the trends the continent is witnessing around mobile money, cryptocurrency, blockchain and artificial intelligence, and shared insights into what companies should focus on 'getting right' from a compliance as well as a practical standpoint when strengthening their presence in Africa.
Attendees to the live event commented on the 'great insights' and 'engaging' discussion and the practical examples that the panellists provided.
If you were not able to join us for the live webinar yesterday, you can access the recording to watch at your convenience here.
