We are delighted to launch our HSF Africa Week to mark the annual celebration of Africa Day on 25 May. In a video message, Herbert Smith Freehills CEO, Justin D'Agostino welcomes everyone to the start of the inaugural Africa Week which includes a series of Africa focused virtual events. These events seek to bring together African specialists and commentators to discuss critical issues and key trends across the continent, including energy transition, digitalisation, ESG, funding sources and intra-continental trade.
Energy Partner and co-head of the Africa practice, Nina Bowyer joins Justin in welcoming everyone to the week-long events and shares her observations and of current and future dynamics across the continent. Nina also touches on the themes that she believes will shape the next 12 months and beyond for Africa, namely local content and economic diversification. Nina Bowyer: "What is exciting is that we now stand at a point where we could be moving from local (in other words) domestic content to Africa content. A concept which echoes clearly with the Africa day message being one of African unity."
We hope you join us for one or more of the events this week. Members of our Africa team across the HSF global network are always interested in hearing your views and discussing opportunities in respect of Africa.
