Five new members have been appointed to the LCIA Court, including Paula Hodges, co-head of Herbert Smith's Global Arbitration Practice.
The LCIA Court has up to 35 members at any one time, chosen to provide and maintain a balance of leading practitioners in commercial arbitration, from the major trading areas of the world. A maximum of six of the 35 members may hold British nationality. The LCIA Court is the final authority for the proper application of the LCIA Rules, which are currently in the final stages of review by a committee chaired by English barrister and arbitrator, VV Veeder QC. The LCIA Court's principal tasks are the selection and appointment of tribunals, the control of costs and the determination of challenges to arbitrators.
The other new members are: Marcelo Ferro of Ferro Castro Neves Daltro & Gomide in Rio de Janeiro, Alexis Mourre of Castaldi Mourre & Partners in Paris, Eun-Young Park of Kim & Chang in Seoul and Eduardo Zuleta of Gómez-Pinzón Zuleta in Bogotá.
