We are proud to celebrate the tenth year of the NUJS HSF National Corporate Law Moot Court Competition ("Moot") this year. Since 2008, HSF and the WB National University of Juridical Sciences, Kolkata ("NUJS") have worked together to host the Moot in Kolkata which sees participation from students from leading Indian universities. The Moot has grown to become one of the foremost competitions and to celebrate this milestone, we have published a book compiling the ten Moot problems. The book aims to showcase the problems that generations of Indian law students have dissected, together with forewords addressing the importance of mooting and oral advocacy.

Previous editions of the Moot have focused on issues like joint venture disputes, corporate insolvency, minority shareholder rights, disputes regarding shareholder agreements, insider trading and takeover regulations. This year's problem, drafted by Dr Umakanth Varottil, places contestants in the shoes of litigants at the National Company Law Appellate Tribunal and focuses on minority shareholder rights. The tenth edition of the Moot was held in Kolkata from 3-5 March 2018 at NUJS. The panel judging the finals consisted of the Honourable Justice Soumen Sen of the High Court at Calcutta, Dr Umakanth Varottil, Associate Professor at the Faculty of Law at the National University of Singapore, Joyjyoti Misra, General Counsel at Uber India, Chris Parsons, Chairman of India Practice at HSF, and Nicholas Peacock, Partner and Head of India Disputes at HSF.

Twenty leading universities participated in the Moot including: NLIU, Bhopal; School of Law, Christ University; NUALS, Kochi; RGNUL, Patiala; CLC, Delhi; GLC, Mumbai; NLU, Jodhpur; SLS, Pune; Amity Law School, Delhi; NALSAR, Hyderabad; Jindal Global Law School; Sastra School of Law; NLU, Delhi; Institute of Law, Nirma University; Gujarat National Law University; NLU, Odisha; ILS, Pune; RMLNLU, Lucknow; NUSRL, Ranchi; and NLSIU, Bangalore. After another high-quality competition, the team from Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law, Patiala emerged victorious.
