Herbert Smith Freehills has officially launched the third edition of our legal guide to "Privilege in Asia Pacific" at the China Club in Hong Kong on 18 June 2014.
The guide, which has been compiled by a regional network of Herbert Smith Freehills disputes lawyers and local counsel, led by Gareth Thomas and Priya Aswani, aims to provide business people and lawyers with information on key legal and regulatory issues relating to legal privilege or similar rights of confidentiality across key jurisdictions in Asia Pacific. It covers most of our firm's key markets including Australia, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Myanmar, Singapore and Thailand. The latest edition has been expanded to cover additional jurisdictions such as Cambodia and Laos, where our clients have been increasingly active.
Hong Kong Partner and Head of Commercial Litigation, Gareth Thomas, commented:
"As commercial activity in Asia continues to grow, cross border inquiries from regulators and investigators, as well as cross border litigation, will also increase. Privilege has become an increasingly important and complex area impacting our clients. Our latest guide will prove to be a useful resource for those who are seeking preliminary understanding of the different rules of privilege in this region, and those wishing to maximise the protection of their legally sensitive documents."
If you wish to receive hard copies of the guide, please contact Hong Kong business development executive Teresa Tam.
