Herbert Smith Freehills' Alternative Dispute Resolution Asia Guide, produced by the Hong Kong disputes practice has been shortlisted for the "Innovation in the Use of Technology" award by the Financial Times. Award winners will be announced at a cocktail reception and dinner this evening in Hong Kong.

As previously reported (Herbert Smith Freehills publishes client research on the use of mediation in Hong Kong) , our ADR in Asia guide was launched at a client event using a fleet of 100 iPads and a bespoke app with interactive functionality. Delegates were able to voice their opinions, ask questions, jot notes, view event materials and interact with the speakers, all from their own personal screen. Importantly, the app enabled delegates to vote on questions about mediation, with results appearing in real time for panel and audience debate. This in turn enabled our Hong Kong disputes practice to publish valuable market data on this confidential process. We are the first law firm in Hong Kong to customise an events app.
