Today the President of the European Commission, Mr Jean-Claude Juncker, wrote a letter to the President of the European Council, Mr Donald Tusk, stating that the European Commission and UK Government have reached agreement on a revised Protocol on Ireland/Northern Ireland and on a revised Political Declaration. Mr Juncker commented in his letter that: "I believe it is high time to complete the withdrawal process and move on, as swiftly as possible, to the negotiation on the European Union's future partnership with the United Kingdom".
The Revised Protocol on Ireland/Northern Ireland and Revised Political Declaration were published earlier this morning on the European Commission's website.
The UK Government will now present the revised Brexit deal before the House of Commons this Saturday for a so called "meaningful vote". It is uncertain whether approval of the revised Brexit deal will be forthcoming from the House of Commons. The UK Government does not have a majority in the House of Commons and at the time of this post the Democratic Unionist Party (DUP) are saying that they do not support the revised deal.
