The cyber security guidance for business published jointly by the Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport, the Cabinet Office and the Government Communications Headquarters, has been updated to include new guidance and training from the National Cyber Security Centre ("NCSC").
The NCSC has produced a new e-learning package for employees at organisations. The NCSC's work with SMEs, charities and other organisations in the legal and accountancy sectors has highlighted a lack of understanding on why cyber security should be a staff concern. Moreover, many SMEs and charities lack the resources required to put in place cyber security policies and training for their staff.
The NCSC's training package, titled "Stay Safe Online: Top Tips for Staff" takes 30 minutes to complete. It is primarily aimed at SMEs, charities and other voluntary organisations, and touches upon:
- the importance of cyber security;
- the manner in which cyber security attacks take place;
- defending against phishing;
- using strong passwords;
- securing devices; and
- reporting incidents.
