Since its announcement in November last year, the proposed Omnibus Simplification Regulation has attracted intense speculation.

The newly-elected EU Commission has proposed to simplify the three main pillars of EU sustainability regulation – the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), the Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CS3D) and the EU Taxonomy to make EU companies more competitive. This has generated hope and enthusiasm for simplification and relief but also anxiety about the future of the EU's ambitious Sustainable Finance framework to which many companies have dedicated significant resources

After months of speculation, the Commission has just released its first drafts on 26 February 2025.

But does the draft live up to expectations?

Our team of cross-jurisdictional experts will give you what you need to know about the Omnibus Regulation so far.
