Following the introduction of a new class action regime in 2020, the Netherlands continues to see a significant uptick in the number of ongoing and threatened class actions that shows no signs of slowing down.
Increasingly, international companies with a presence in the Netherlands, or even those with operations that may impact Dutch citizens, face increased risks of class actions. Recent high profile class actions have been brought against international companies in areas including data privacy, investor claims and product liability.
In a webinar on Wednesday 16 March 2022, (12 - 1 pm UK time) Branda Katan, Partner at Stibbe, will discuss current trends in Dutch class actions with Herbert Smith Freehills' Partners, Alan Watts and Natasha Johnson.
The session will cover:
- An introduction to the Dutch legal framework;
- An overview of current trends and the role of litigation funding;
- A comparison with the English class action landscape; and
- Key risks faced by international companies and steps to manage and mitigate these risks.
