There are so many ESG-related publications and developments that it is hard to keep abreast of them all. For this reason, every two weeks, HSF publishes a tracker of ESG-related publications and developments, with a primary focus on developments that may be of most interest to or impact our clients in Spain, be they corporates, asset managers or asset owners.
Key updates covered in this edition include:
- With the 2022 United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP27) underway, regulatory and industry bodies, business leaders and politicians have made a series of statements regarding the future of ESG regulation, including the European Banking Authority (EBA) and the International Organisation of Securities Commissions (IOSCO).
- The European Parliament (EP) has adopted the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), which obliges companies to regularly disclose standardised information regarding their activities’ impact on the environment and society, with rules starting to take effect variously between 2024 and 2028.
- Spain and Portugal have signed a Cross-Border Tourism Strategy 2022-2024 to promote sustainable tourism.
- The Government of Andalucía has initiated the parliamentary procedure to approve the Circular Economy Law.
- The Government of Valencia has approved the Law on Waste and Contaminating Soils for the promotion of the Circular Economy.
- The Spanish Government has approved the Strategy for the eradication of violence against children and adolescents.
