Alberto is a corporate senior associate in the energy and infrastructure practice in the Madrid office.

He advises domestic and international energy and infrastructure companies, private equity funds, investment banks and public entities on a wide array of projects, mergers and acquisitions and corporate transactions in these sectors.

 

Background

He has a dual degree in Business and Law by Colegio Universitario de Estudios Financieros (CUNEF Universidad) (Spain) and a master's degree in Law (LL.M) by Georgetown University (Washington, USA). He speaks Spanish, English and French. He is a member of the Ilustre Colegio de la Abogacía de Madrid (ICAM – Madrid Bar Association).

Prior to joining the firm, Alberto worked in the corporate practice of a top transactional law firm in Madrid, among other relevant professional experience such as a six months-internship as a conflicts advisor in the United Nations (New York, USA).

Selected matters

  • Consorcio Español Alta Velocidad Meca Medina, formed by Spanish leading rail and construction companies such as Abengoa/Inabensa, ACS/Cobra, Adif, Imathia, Indra Sistemas, Ineco, OHL, Patentes Talgo y Renfe, among others, on all legal aspects of the construction of the superstructure, systems installation, maintenance, rolling stock procurement and operation of the Haramain High-speed Railway (HHR) project Phase II, which links the two holy cities of Makkah and Medinah via Jeddah in Saudi Arabia. This is the biggest international contract ever won by Spanish companies and the first construction of a high-speed AVE (Alta Velocidad Española) line outside Spain 
  • Finerge on the acquisition of three greenfield wind projects located in Navarra, with a total installed power capacity of 63MW, from Alfanar Group 
  • Energy Infrastructure Partners and Crédit Agricole Assurances on the €905 million acquisition of 25% Repsol Renovables, its renewables company, which includes offshore and onshore wind, photovoltaic, hydropower and geothermal assets 
  • Solarig on the sale of 10% of its development projects' portfolio in Spain and Italy to Alantra, a Spanish private equity company, part of a joint route to divestment of 100% of such portfolio during 2023
  • DIF Infrastructure on the acquisition of Itevelesa, the second largest private Spanish provider of vehicle periodic technical inspection (PTI) services, with 72 inspection centres and 20 mobile units in 11 regions
