Alida Vandewiele
Alida is a technology lawyer (Senior Associate) in our Melbourne-based TMT team.
Alida provides strategic advice on all aspects of information technology, data and intellectual property. Alida specialises in major transformational projects, strategic outsourcings, privacy (regulatory and transactional), data handling (including commercialisation), intellectual property, and other complex commercial or corporate transactions where there is a technology or data aspect. Alida’s experience extends across Australia, Asia and the UK and includes major players in the financial, energy, mining, FMCG, and technology sectors, such as ANZ, CBA, HSBC, Wesfarmers, Engie/ Simply Energy, nbn, and BHP.
Background
Alida graduated from the University of Queensland with a Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Commerce (Finance). Alida recently returned from a 2-year secondment in London where she developed further international experience.

- Supporting clients on their global arrangements with key technology outsourcing partners, including RFP processes, initial contract drafts and negotiations, and ongoing advice and renegotiations
- Advising various large Australian and global corporate clients in relation to cloud migration and deployments, including in respect of strategic cloud partnerships with leading vendors such as Microsoft, AWS and SAP, and the use of AI
- Advising ANZ on the operational separation, IP, privacy and data aspects of its joint venture with Worldline to operate payment processing services
- Advising a large overseas transport body on the business process outsourcing of its end-to-end enforcement operations, working closely with the client on key aspects of procurement law and disengagement and implementation risks
- Supporting renewable energy providers on the terms of IP rights and licences associated with R&D and innovative developments
