Bijou is a dual-qualified (UK/Australia) Senior Associate in the Disputes team, specialising in complex disputes and contentious regulatory matters.
Bijou specialises in complex disputes (including class actions) and contentious regulatory matters. She has experience acting for a broad range of corporate clients, with a particular focus on financial services.
Bijou is an experienced commercial litigator with a range of experience across multiple jurisdictions and sectors, including financial services, insurance, construction, infrastructure and government. She is currently based in Brisbane, having previously qualified and practised in London, Sydney and Melbourne.
Bijou is a member of HSF’s Diversity and Inclusion Committee and is leading the firm’s first Diversity & Inclusion mentoring initiative.
Background
Bijou holds a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Cambridge and qualified as a solicitor in England and Wales in 2017.
Bijou trained with Linklaters LLP in London prior to moving to Australia where she was admitted to practice in Victoria, the Federal Court of Australia and the High Court of Australia in 2020.
Bijou is a native French and Mauritian Creole speaker, and is fluent in English.

- Acting for a major Australian retail bank in relation to a class action brought in relation to the sale of retail products
- Acting for the Department of Transport and Planning in relation to negotiations for claims of compensation for sites along the Metro Tunnel Project.
- Acting for an ASX listed company in their defence of misleading and deceptive conduct claims
- Advising ASX listed clients in relation to insurance policy wording issues
- Acting on behalf of farmers and irrigators from the Riverina area of NSW in representative proceedings involving negligence claims against the Murray Darling Basin Authority
- Acting on behalf of shareholders in a class action against the former directors, officers and auditors of a previously ASX listed company alleging contraventions of continuous disclosure obligations.
