Carmen is a senior associate in the Madrid finance practice with wide experience in all kinds of structured finance transactions.

She advises banks, financial entities, funds, institutional lenders, lenders, borrowers and sponsors on the structuring and implementation of sophisticated financing transactions, including acquisition finance, project finance, real estate finance, restructurings and refinancings with special focus on the private equity, energy, infrastructure and real estate sectors. Additionally, she also has significant experience in advising in distressed transactions and restructuring processes.

Her expertise is highlighted in Best Lawyers for Banking and finance since 2022.

Background

She has a dual degree in Law and International affairs and a diploma in International business law by Universidad Pontificia Comillas (ICADE) (Spain), partially studied in L'Université Libre de Bruxelles (Brussels). She also has a dual master's degree for Admission to the bar and Bilingual international business law by IE Law School (Spain). She speaks Spanish, English, French and Mandarin. She is admitted to the Ilustre Colegio de la Abogacía de Madrid (ICAM – Madrid Bar Association).

Prior to joining the firm, she completed a 5-months full-time internship as a trainee lawyer in the Madrid office and a 4-month full-time internship in a Chinese law firm in Shanghai.

  • Stirling Square Capital Partners on the financing for an amount of €139 million, granted by The Governor and Company of the Bank of Ireland, Goldman Sachs and Ardian acting Ardian as agent, for among other purposes, the acquisition of Gestión Tributaria Territorial's group and the refinancing of its existing financial indebtedness
  • Arcmont Asset Management and a group of RCF lenders, on a facilities agreement, granted to Fremman Capital, for the acquisition of the Palex Group, a leading distribution company in the hospital and healthcare sector
  • a global American financial services firm on the refinancing of the debt of MiCampus group related to the acquisition, construction and/or development of several student housing residences located around Spain
  • H.I.G. Capital on the financing, granted by certain lenders, for the acquisition of Estacionamientos y Servicios (EYSA), a company dedicated to the management of parking lots and a leading provider of smart mobility solutions, from Portobello Capital. This transaction is the largest operation in the Spanish smart mobility market
  • a syndicate of banks including Credit Agricole Corporate and Credit Agricole Corporate And Investment Bank, Sucursal En España, Caixabank, Banco de Sabadell and Banco Santander on the €250 million refinancing granted to Mediterranean Shipping Company Terminal Valencia
