A member of our leading Asia Corporate Crime & Investigations practice, David specialises in investigations and compliance projects for US-listed companies and other multinationals.
David’s practice is focused on conducting internal and external investigations on behalf of U.S.-listed and multinational companies covering a wide range of criminal and civil issues, including potential violations of U.S. and international anti-corruption laws, fraud, employee misconduct, insider trading, anti-money laundering, and sanctions and export controls.
David has conducted hundreds of internal investigations on behalf of his clients. He has represented clients in high-profile, white-collar criminal trials in U.S. federal court, U.S. securities litigation, U.S. complex civil litigation and arbitration, and sensitive trade secrets investigations. He has also conducted monitorships arising out of DOJ investigations.
David has extensive experience advising clients in the life sciences, private equity, technology, food and beverage, and hospitality sectors. He also advises clients on developing and implementing company compliance programs and performing investment compliance due diligence.
With over a decade of legal experience in both the private and public sector, David has lived and practiced in both the United States and Asia, which gives him a unique perspective on challenges facing the global economy and cultural sensitivities between the East and West. In recent years, his primary focus has been on matters across Asia, including in China, India, Japan, South Korea, and Southeast Asia.
Background
Before joining the firm, David helped lead the litigation & enforcement department of a prominent international law firm in Shanghai. Prior to that, he worked for another leading law firm in Washington D.C., and clerked for a judge in D.C. federal court.
David holds a Juris Doctor degree from American University Washington College of Law, magna cum laude, and a bachelor's degree in economics from Vanderbilt University.
He is admitted to the New York State Bar, the Massachusetts State Bar, and the District of Columbia State Bar.
David is a native English speaker and also fluent in Mandarin.
