Liz is a professional support lawyer in the global arbitration practice

Liz provides technical advice to clients and colleagues on complex issues relating to international arbitration. She also helps to lead and drive the firm's thought leadership and client and external engagement on key developments in arbitration.

Liz is involved in devising and delivering internal and external training, client seminars and webinars and drafting ebulletins and other legal know-how materials for clients. Liz is an editor of our arbitration and PIL blogs, hsfnotes.com/arbitration and hsfnotes.com/publicinternationallaw and of our flagship bi-annual publication, Inside Arbitration.  She also co-ordinated HSF's response to the Law Commission consultation on the English Arbitration Act 1996.

Liz also supports the management of the global arbitration practice in business planning and strategy development. Liz is particularly interested in deriving client insights from the firm's arbitration data.  

Liz regularly writes articles on a range of legal issues, and has been published in Global Arbitration Review, LexisNexis, PLC and the Kluwer arbitration blog.

Background

Before taking up this role, Liz  was a Senior Associate in the London arbitration team advising clients in international arbitration proceedings in both London and Singapore. Liz was admitted as a Solicitor in England and Wales in September 2011.

Experience & expertise

Selected matters

  • a Chinese upstream company in successful multi-billion dollar commercial fraud claim (SIAC arbitration in Singapore)

  • representing a global energy major on two major LCIA arbitrations, both in the quantum phase, concerning the construction of subsea pipelines and trade of crude oil in the Caspian sea respectively

  • an oil & gas supermajor in ICC arbitration proceedings for the recovery of settlements paid and associated litigation costs under a contractual indemnity provided by a contractor at a North African oil and gas project

  • a global bank in relation to LCIA proceedings and interim relief in Cyprus arising from a facility agreement and suite of security documents
