Richard is a Professional Support Lawyer in the Pensions team.
Richard manages the Pensions team's value-added client services and internal knowhow. He helps clients stay up to date with the latest legal developments and understand their business impact. He develops knowhow resources so that the team can advise quickly and efficiently, and provides tailored training both for the team and for clients.
Richard has worked as a pensions lawyer for more than 30 years. For most of that time he had a client-facing role, advising trustees and sponsors on the full range of pensions issues. He was the lead legal adviser to various household-name pension schemes, many of which were valued above £1bn. Richard has acted on many buy-in and de-risking transactions, and has also advised on the pensions aspects of mergers and acquisitions, outsourcings and restructurings.
Given his experience, there are few pensions issues which Richard has not encountered before. He has a clear understanding of the goals of trustees and sponsors, and of the challenges which they face in navigating the pensions landscape.
Richard is a Fellow of the Pensions Management Institute and a member of the Association of Pensions Lawyers. He sits on Lexis PSL's Pensions Consulting Editorial Board, and on the Society of Pensions Professionals' Legislation Committee. He has spoken at various industry conferences and seminars.
