Iria heads the public law, regulatory and environment practice in the Madrid office and co-heads the regional ESG practice in EMEA, focusing specially on energy transition.

She has in-depth experience in administrative and environmental law, advising a wide array of large corporations, investment banks, sponsors and public institutions on national and cross-border transactions in the regulated sectors (including energy, water, ports, telecoms, among others). She is also an expert on public procurement, project development, public assets and properties, permitting and administrative authorizations, as well as administrative (disciplinary proceedings, administrative appeals, administrative liability) and contentious administrative proceedings.

Her expertise is highlighted in Chambers & Partners and Legal 500 for public law and environment since 2017.

Background

She has a law degree and a diploma in Business administration by the Universidad Pontificia Comillas (ICADE) de Madrid. She also holds a master's degree in New technologies law by Universidad Villanueva (Spain) and a master's degree in Energy law by Club Español de la Energía (Spain). She speaks Spanish, English, Galician and Portuguese.  She is a member of the Ilustre Colegio de la Abogacía de Madrid (ICAM – Madrid Bar Association).

Prior to joining the firm, Iria was a senior associate of another international law firm’s projects, energy and infrastructure, and public law practice.

  • DIF Infrastructure on the public law aspects related to the acquisition of Itevelesa, the second largest private Spanish provider of vehicle periodic technical inspection (PTI) services, with 72 inspection centres and 20 mobile units in 11 regions
  • Interogo Holding, via its infrastructure investment fund Inter Infrastructure Capital (IIC), on the public law aspects related to the agreement to acquire 49% of a 1,066 MW portfolio of operational and under construction solar photovoltaic generation assets within the BRUC group
