Jia is an associate in the Employment, Pensions and Incentives team, specialising in Pensions.
Jia advises trustee and corporates clients across a variety of sectors. Her experience includes advising on pension scheme de-risking transactions, as well as contentious and non-contentious pensions matters.
Working closely with colleagues across the firm, Jia regularly advises on the Pensions aspects of M&A work, including on Pensions due diligence and engagement with trustees.

- a specialist UK insurer, as its lead UK Pensions legal adviser, on multiple buy-in and buy-out transactions
- a global automotive distributor on the disposal of its Retail business, including on the cessation of participation of target companies in its defined benefit scheme and associated negotiations with the scheme trustees to achieve a flexible apportionment arrangement
- a financial advisory and asset management firm on rectification of errors in the rules of two defined benefit pension schemes. In each case, there was a potential mismatch between the position under the scheme rules and the way in which the scheme had been administered
- the Trustee of the Pension Plan of an international media company on various matters, including on the steps that would have to be taken in the event that the employer wanted to trigger the buy-out and winding-up of the Plan and codification of discretionary benefits
- a global automotive distributor as sponsor of its Pension scheme on preparing the scheme for buy-out and on day-to-day matters
