John specialises in advising financial institutions, private capital and high net worth individuals on a range of disputes, including litigation, arbitration, mediation, investigations and advisory work.

John has a particular specialism in advising the wealth management arms of large banks, as well as private banks on a variety of issues including sanctions, insolvency issues, contractual disputes, trust disputes and significant class actions. He also regularly advises private capital clients, particularly on joint venture disputes. John also has a growing practice in the fintech space advising cryptocurrency exchanges. He also has a keen interest on the impact of generative artificial intelligence on financial institutions from a disputes perspective.

John has spent time on secondment at the in-house EMEA litigation department of UBS and was also on secondment to HSF's property litigation team. He is able to utilise his cross departmental expertise to provide clients with holistic advice in a commercial and practical manner.

John is also part of the firm's India Group.

He has been recognised by Legal 500 as a Key Lawyer and is quoted as an "expert in wealth management matters", "a rising star who is thoughtful and effective" (2025), "a rising associate", "an excellent senior associate, definitely one to watch for the future", and "very intelligent, experienced and personable" (2024). It also states that his "ability to horizon scan complex problems and pre-empt potential pitfalls and problems in litigation is a skill to admire and hugely beneficial to his clients" (2025).

 

Background

John did a law degree at King's College London. He was admitted as a solicitor in September 2015 and was granted higher rights of audience in 2017.
