José is an associate in the Competition, Regulation and Trade group based in Brussels.

José advises clients on all aspects of EU competition law, including on merger control, cartel and antitrust investigations, and the interface between competition and intellectual property law. He has acted in merger control, cartel, and antitrust proceedings before the European Commission. Jose has significant experience in the pharmaceutical & healthcare, TMT, manufacturing and industrials sectors. 

Jose also advises on EU regulatory matters, including in the consumer, chemicals, and TMT sectors.

 

Background

Jose holds a Masters of Laws (LL.M.) on European Competition and Intellectual Property law from the University of Liège (Belgium), an LL.M. on Legal practice from the University Rey Juan Carlos (Spain), a Master on European Law from the University Paris XII (France) and, a Bachelor of Laws from the University Rey Juan Carlos (Spain). Prior to joining HSF, Jose worked as a trainee at the Directorate General for Competition (DG COMP) at the European Commission and at various international law firms in Brussels and Madrid.

Jose is admitted to the bar in Madrid and Brussels (E-List), and speaks fluent Spanish, English and French.
