Kai is a solicitor in the Brisbane Disputes team.

Kai has experience assisting clients with commercial disputes, class action litigation and international arbitration, including in the energy and projects sectors.

Background

Kai holds a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Government and International Relations from Griffith University. Kai graduated with First Class Honours and received a University Medal. Prior to joining Herbert Smith Freehills, Kai was an Associate in the Queensland Court of Appeal. 

Kai is admitted in the Supreme Court of Queensland and is on the High Court Register of Practitioners.

  • an energy company in defending a class action in relation to alleged anti-competitive bidding behaviours in the National Electricity Market, presently before the Federal Court of Australia;
  • a project company in an ICC arbitration seated in London concerning the termination of an EPC Contract for the development of the world’s largest biomass power plant;
  • an energy company in relation to the defence of an adjudication application made under security of payment legislation and the subsequent settlement of those claims;
  • a project company regarding pass through claims under a Public-Private Partnership for the development of social infrastructure.
