Kate is a Senior Associate in Herbert Smith Freehills’ Dispute Resolution and construction and infrastructure disputes groups. Kate specialises in construction litigation and resources litigation in the mining, oil and gas and infrastructure industries.
Kate is an experienced construction and engineering lawyer, and has advised on disputes relating to all types of construction and procurement contracts. Kate regularly presents and writes articles on the area of construction law, and is on the Board of the Society of Construction Law Australia.
Kate has undertaken secondments at major oil and gas and international mining companies. Kate has been recognised as a ‘rising star’ in construction in the Asia-Pacific Legal 500, and previously as a ‘next generation lawyer’ in construction in the Asia-Pacific Legal 500.

Selected matters
- advised Samsung C&T, on the $10 billion Roy Hill Project in relation to numerous claims, disputes, adjudications and project issues . This involved adjudications under the Construction Contracts Act 2004 (WA) and related judicial review proceedings. This involved arbitration proceedings in Singapore
- advised a global mining company on disputes with its sub-contractor relating to the construction of non-process infrastructure facilities in the Pilbara region of Western Australia
- advised an international EPC contractor on claims relating to installation of a pipeline on an oil and gas project in South-East Asia
- advised the operator of an offshore oil and gas project in Western Australia about disputes regarding defects and claims under a URF contract
