Katherine is a Senior Associate in the Disputes team, specialising in construction and infrastructure disputes.

Katherine has significant experience working on large-scale litigation as well as arbitration, mediation, expert determination, adjudication and informal dispute resolution processes, and providing advice including in relation to contractual and project delivery issues.

Katherine works with clients to develop and implement dispute resolution strategies to best achieve their commercial objectives. She has experience acting for principals and developers, financiers, contractors and equity investors across a wide range of projects including building, construction, infrastructure and energy projects. Her work stretches from early project delivery and contract administration issues to try and avoid disputes from arising, through to managing formal claims and the conduct of litigious or arbitral proceedings.

Katherine also has experience in shareholder class action proceedings, internal investigations and general commercial litigation, particularly for clients in the property, construction and infrastructure sectors.

Background

Katherine obtained a Bachelor of Laws (Honours Class I and the University Medal) and a Bachelor of Science (Distinction) from the University of New South Wales. She is admitted as a solicitor of the Supreme Court of NSW and the High Court of Australia.

  • the owners/developers of a water treatment facility in NSW in connection with mining and power generation assets, including contractual advice and litigious proceedings in the Supreme Court of NSW and Federal Court regarding tender phase and operations phase disputes;
  • the equity sponsors of the 228MW Lal Lal Wind Farms project, including in multiple proceedings in the Supreme Court of Victoria;
  • a listed developer in relation to representative proceedings relating to alleged continuous disclosure and misleading or deceptive conduct claims;
  • developers and builders in various Supreme Court of NSW proceedings in relation to alleged defects in residential building work; 
  • a project developer in relation to multiple, parallel adjudications under Security of Payment legislation;
  • Project Co in various disputes (including Supreme Court litigation) arising out of the Hopkins Correctional Facility PPP project in Ararat, Victoria;
  • Project Co in relation to a rail PPP project in NSW impacted by design and delay issues; and
  • a major construction contractor in relation to the potential use of non-conforming building products in Australia, including the management of upstream and downstream Supreme Court proceedings in NSW and Victoria.
