Miles specialises in infrastructure and energy financing, including for power and transmission projects, digital infrastructure, PPPs and social infrastructure.

Miles specialises in project finance but has had a broad-ranging career across a variety of infrastructure and related transactions. He has significant international experience, having worked in New York with Babcock & Brown and the Freehills NY office. 

Through his experience on the client side (Babcock & Brown and secondments with AustralianSuper and Transurban), he has perspective on what clients want and how their lawyers can help. He is experienced in acting for project sponsors and financiers and uses this experience to drive the parties to a position that is commercially acceptable for both sides.

Miles is quick to understand complex issues and can produce creative solutions that are commercially workable for lenders and borrowers. 

Miles has expertise in all aspect of project finance and corporate finance documentation, security law, financing structures, complex derivative structures and documentation as well as significant experience with project documents such as Project/Concession Agreements, EPC and O&M contracts and PPAs. He is an expert in greenfield transactions, acquisitions and refinancings.

Background

Miles holds both a Bachelor of Engineering (with Honours) degree and a Bachelor of Laws (with Honours) degree from the University of Melbourne. Miles is admitted to practice in Australia and New York.
