Nicholas is a competition law specialist with a particular focus on cross-border competition law matters.

Nicholas advises on a broad range of contentious and non-contentious competition law matters including anticompetitive agreements, abuse of dominance and merger control.  

Nicholas works across all sectors but has particular expertise and interest in the consumer and financial sectors.  He has extensive experience on assisting clients secure merger control clearances for cross-border M&A transactions and joint ventures, and immerses himself in the business of his clients to be their trusted advisor and provide tailored strategic solutions.

Prior to joining Herbert Smith Freehills, Nicholas was a Senior Legal Counsel (Competition Law) at a global financial institution where he helped the institution to shape its competition law compliance policies including training relevant business stakeholders on competition law and managing competition law risks within the institution.

Background

Nicholas graduated from the University of Sydney with a double degree – Bachelor of Commerce (Economics) and Bachelor of Laws.  He also holds a Postgraduate Diploma in EU Competition Law from Kings' College London. He is admitted as a solicitor in Australia (NSW), Hong Kong and Singapore.
