Paul advises clients on complex commercial litigation, with a particular interest in professional negligence and insolvency disputes.
Paul advises clients on domestic and international commercial disputes, both in court and arbitration. He specialises in professional negligence, company law, director’s duties, shareholder disputes, insolvency, fraud, urgent asset preservation, litigation funding, privilege, and conflict of law issues.
Paul is ranked by Chambers and Legal 500, where he is praised for his “market leading” work on complex negligence claims and described as “highly impressive”, “a very thorough old school litigator”, and “one of the most technically capable solicitors around", while still being “affable and very easy to work with.”
Paul frequently advises liquidators on investigations and claims, both within and outside of Hong Kong. He also advises the private capital industry on potential disputes, transaction planning, and crisis management, and provides advisory services on general commercial disputes.
Background
Paul graduated with bachelor's degrees in law and civil engineering from the University of Tasmania, Australia.
He began his career with King & Wood Mallesons before joining Karas So LLP in Hong Kong. He joined the firm from Kirkland & Ellis.
Paul is qualified in Australia and Hong Kong. He is one of a small number of Hong Kong practitioners to have completed the INSOL Fellowship in international insolvency.
