Romain Martinez is a senior associate in the Tax department.

He provides practical transactional tax advice and solutions on a wide range of corporate, business and international tax matters. His practice focuses on international reorganisations, corporate acquisitions, and mergers and acquisitions, with a particular emphasis on the tax structuring of international transactions.

Romain has a strong tax expertise in the energy and natural resources sector (including mining, oil and gas, energy, infrastructure) where he advises international clients on the tax structuring of their global investments, and in particular in France and French-speaking African jurisdictions. He has also developed a rare expertise in handling (local and international) tax disputes faced by mining and energy companies in French-speaking African jurisdictions.

Romain also has extensive experience in advising on the tax aspects of financial instruments and asset financing. He also advises high net worth individuals for the management of their tax affairs and controversies before the French tax authorities.

Background

Lawyer registered to the Paris bar since 2015, Romain holds a Master's Degree in Business law and a postgraduate Degree in Corporate Tax Law from the University of Paris X, Dauphine. Romain also holds a LLM in Tax law from University of California, Los Angeles.
