Tia Liu
Tia is an experienced solicitor in our Projects, Energy and Infrastructure (Project Finance) team.
Tia’s project finance experience includes project financing, acquisition financing, corporate financing, real estate financing and asset financing. She has advised borrowers, lenders, offtakers and other stakeholders on a broad range of corporate finance and project finance transactions both across Australia and internationally, with a focus in the renewable energy sector.
Tia leverages her experience working in both corporate and project financing matters to provide clients with timely, practical and considered legal advice suitable for each client’s commercial needs. Tia has experience working across diverse procurement structures, renewable technologies and infrastructure development.
Background
Tia graduated from the University of Melbourne with a Juris Doctor and a Bachelor of Arts. Tia is admitted to practice in the Supreme Court of Victoria.

- Victorian Government in relation to the offtake arrangements for the Melbourne Renewable Energy Hub project, a 600MW BESS project in Victoria.
- Lenders in relation to the acquisition of Merredin Solar Farm, a 100MW solar farm in Western Australia.
- Windlab in relation to the offtake arrangements for Rio Tinto’s purchase of 80% of electricity from Windlab’s 1.4GW Wind Renewable Energy Hub in Bungaban, Queensland.
- Todd Group Limited in relation to its proposed 400 MW solar power plant at Rangitāiki, 35 km East of Taupō in New Zealand.
