DP&E releases draft revised CCC guidelines for public comment

Draft ‘Revised Community Consultative Committee Guidelines for State Significant Development’ (Revised CCC Guidelines) have been released for public comment by the NSW Department of Planning & Environment (DP&E).

The purpose of a Community Consultative Committee (CCC) is to act as 'a forum for open discussions between companies, communities and local councils' in relation to State Significant Development (SSD).

DP&E summarises the key proposed changes to the CCC Guidelines as follows:

increasing the flexibility of the guidelines so that CCCs can be set up for a range of SSD projects as required,
revised procedures for the establishment of the committees,
revised criteria for community representatives,
new criteria for environmental representatives,
better guidance on how to establish committees,
stronger guidance on the conduct of meetings, and
a new toolkit to assist with the establishment and operation of committees.

Submissions on the draft Revised CCC Guidelines can be made up until 31 March 2016.
