Herbert Smith Freehills' Milan Managing Partner Laura Orlando has taken home her second award in the last week, winning 'Food Lawyer of the Year' at the 2019 TopLegal Industry Awards.
Laura was presented with the award for regulatory advice she had recently given a client in relation to a life sciences matter centred around the classification of a borderline product as a food supplement.
The TopLegal Industry Awards showcase firms who advise clients based on the specific needs of the sector in which they operate. The selection criteria includes: evaluating the use of resources for the benefit of the customer; service innovation; specific knowledge of the sector; and the activity and solutions provided to the customer.

In this field she has acted in some of the highest profile multi-jurisdictional patent cases, including in the context of the SPC Regulation, and has assisted major pharmaceutical companies in connection with patent expiry of top selling drugs. She also advises on regulatory matters, particularly at the interface with patent law.
