Herbert Smith Freehills partner Helen Tang has been elected as one of eight new Vice-Chairs of the ICC's Commission on Arbitration and ADR.
史密夫斐尔律师事务所合伙人唐汉洁(Helen Tang)律师被国际商会仲裁及替代性争议解决(ADR)委员会(The ICC Commission on Arbitration and ADR)任命为新一届八位副主席之一。
A Shanghai-based disputes partner, Helen specialises in international arbitration and other forms of dispute resolution for Chinese clients and multinational corporations. She has deep experience representing Chinese and international clients in international arbitrations under ICC rules and other institutional rules.
The ICC Commission of Arbitration and ADR serves as a think-tank and rule-making body for the ICC’s dispute resolution services. Its duties include providing thought leadership and input on proposed amendments to the ICC arbitration rules, and producing reports and recommendations to raise awareness about practical issues in arbitration and ADR.
"It is my pleasure and a huge honour to join the commission, and I look forward to working closely with the steering committee," said Helen. "Together with ICC China national committee members, we will contribute China perspectives to the work of the Commission, as well as introducing international best practices to further develop China's arbitration and ADR practices."
Helen joins seven other new Vice-Chairs announced at the ICC’s 20th annual conference on international arbitration in Miami on 29 October and, along with six current Vice-Chairs, will form the commission's steering committee. The Vice-Chairs will serve a term that expires on 30 June 2024.
"This appointment recognises Helen's deep experience in international arbitration, and particularly as a China-based adviser representing Chinese clients on complex international disputes," said Simon Chapman KC, Asia head of disputes.
"Her recognition at an international level is encouragement to our talented team in this region, and reflects the firm's unparalleled Asia and global leadership in disputes."
