International law firm Herbert Smith Freehills has today launched the fourth edition of its leading Guide to Restructuring, Turnaround and Insolvency in Asia Pacific.
The Guide provides a complete and up-to-date overview of the restructuring and insolvency processes for 18 jurisdictions across Asia Pacific. It launches as new challenges have emerged to test the region’s continued growth and its return to normality following the Covid-19 pandemic.
Paul Apáthy, Global Co-head of Herbert Smith Freehills’ Restructuring, Turnaround and Insolvency practice, said:
“This edition of the Guide launches amidst expectations of slower growth and tighter financial conditions as supply chain pressures, geopolitical tensions, rising interest rates and inflation sustain economic headwinds around the region. As always, it will be a very useful resource for any corporates, creditors, funds, directors and other stakeholders navigating financial distress."
The Guide provides an overview of the legal framework for corporate restructuring, turnaround and insolvency in Australia, Bangladesh, mainland China, the Hong Kong SAR, India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Myanmar, New Zealand, Pakistan, the Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam.
It also documents recent legal changes that have significantly altered the restructuring and insolvency landscape in the region, including Australia’s new small business restructuring process, the Philippines Financial Institutions Strategic Transfer Act designed to assist financial institutions, China’s Shenzen Special Economic Zone Personal Bankruptcy Regulations, and changes to the Singapore International Commercial Court.
