Earlier this week, Kluwer Law International, the leading international legal publisher, launched a new monograph in its international arbitration series titled "Arbitration in England, with chapters on Scotland and Ireland."
One of Herbert Smith Freehills' professional support lawyers for international arbitration, Joanne Greenaway, acted as both a co-author of several chapters and a co-editor, alongside Julian D.M. Lew, QC, Harris Bor and Gregory Fullelove.
"Arbitration in England" comprises contributions from well-known arbitration practitioners, including HSF's head of global arbitration practice Paula Hodges, partner Craig Tevendale, and senior associate Andrew Cannon who discuss the rich and varied nature of arbitration in England today. The early chapters describe the development of the arbitral system in England and its traditional leading institutions - the London Court of International Arbitration (LCIA) and the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb). They also provide a unique focus on the specialist areas of commodity, maritime, construction and sports arbitration. The remainder of the book deals with the law and practice of arbitration in England and concludes with two additional overview chapters relating to arbitration in Scotland and the Republic of Ireland respectively.
Herbert Smith Freehills' international arbitration group has a long tradition of co-operating with legal publishers and regularly participates in book and article publishing projects. Larry Shore and Matthew Weiniger are co-authors of the leading work "International Investment Arbitration: Substantive Principles", published by OUP. Christian Leathley is the author of KLI's title "International Dispute Resolution in Latin America", and Matthew Weiniger, Chris Parker and Isabelle Michou are the authors of the forthcoming book on "Costs in Arbitration", also to be published by Kluwer Law International.
