Irina is a partner in the firm's corporate practice with a focus on the energy sector.

Irina is a highly-experienced corporate and commercial lawyer with a particular focus on the energy and natural resources sector. Her practice covers major acquisitions and disposals, joint ventures and project development transactions across oil and gas (including LNG), power (including renewables), mining and refining sectors. 

Irina works with energy sector clients across multiple jurisdictions. Having previously been based in our Singapore office for over 13 years, she has particular expertise advising on transactions and projects in Southeast Asia and South Asia, as well as African and Latin America. Irina has advised on the whole value chain of energy projects, from concessions and host government agreements, transportation, processing and storage arrangements to downstream commodity sales and trading. She also advises clients on energy transition and ESG issues.

Highly regarded by clients and market peers, Irina has been named Young Lawyer of the Year (Law Firm) at the Asian Legal Business SE Asia Law Awards 2020. She has also been listed in the top legal directories, including being ranked Band 4 in the most recent Energy & Natural Resources (International) guide for Chambers Asia Pacific.

Background

Irina graduated from the University of Oxford with a B.A. in Jurisprudence. She is admitted as a solicitor in England and Wales. Irina is bilingual in English and Russian.

  • First Gen Corporation on multiple aspects of development of an LNG receiving terminal in Philippines, including terminal use and tolling arrangements and  LNG procurement, including drafting and negotiating LNG master supply agreements with various LNG suppliers, advising on term supply arrangements and advising on other ancillary agreements
  • a confidential client on development of a gas transportation project in a Southeast Asian jurisdiction
  • Blueleaf Energy on the development of and investment in over 1.25GW of solar projects in the Philippines, including structuring, commercialisation arrangements, investment and joint venture terms and foreign investment regulation
  • Corio Generation, a portfolio company of Macquarie Asset Management in relation to its joint venture investment into a portfolio of offshore wind projects in the Philippines
  • Hibiscus Petroleum on its bid for, and acquisition of, Repsol's upstream assets in Vietnam and Malaysia
  • Akuo on its joint venture with Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners to develop a 1.2GW portfolio of onshore wind, solar and run of river hydro projects in Indonesia
  • China Power International Holding Limited on all aspects of its acquisition of Zuma Energia, Mexico's leading independent renewables generator, which develops, finances and operates a portfolio of more than 800MW of wind and solar power projects. Our role included advising on legal due diligence, transaction structuring and transaction documents (including W&I insurance)
  • Chevron on all aspects of the disposal to MOL of its upstream oil and gas interests in the Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli (ACG) field in Azerbaijan and the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline by way of an auction process, including advising on vendor due diligence, transaction structuring and sale and purchase documentation
  • a confidential client on potential import of LNG into Malaysia and third party market access arrangements, including advising on and negotiating LNG sale and purchase agreements, Malaysian third party access arrangements (including LNG terminal and gas transportation pipeline access arrangements) and gas sale and purchase agreements
  • Chevron on the sale of its upstream interests in the Malampaya Gas Project in the Philippines to Udenna Corporation, including advising on vendor due diligence and sale and purchase documentation
