James Emmerig
James is a litigator specialising in regulatory matters and complex commercial disputes.
He has 10 years’ experience advising major corporations and financial institutions in high-profile litigation, class actions, regulatory investigations and enforcement proceedings. His focus is on efficiency and the early identification of the key legal and commercial issues to facilitate a prompt and cost-effective resolution of disputes.
James has been involved in many significant contentious regulatory matters in Australia, including matters involving ASIC, ACCC, APRA, ICAC and the Financial Services Royal Commission.
He has a particular focus on contentious financial services, securities and corporate regulatory matters.
Background
James was admitted to practise as a solicitor of the Supreme Court of NSW in 2012.
He holds Master of Laws, Bachelor of Laws (Hons I) and Bachelor of Arts degrees from the University of Sydney.
He is a past recipient of the Santow Scholarship (awarded by the Law Council of Australia for academic papers on corporate law) and has published articles in the Company and Securities Law Journal and the Journal of Banking and Finance Law and Practice.
