Monde Coto
Monde is a Director based in our Johannesburg office.
Monde specialises in venture capital, private M&A transactions and equity capital markets transactions. Monde has advised on numerous listings and capital raises on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange, including rights offers across the London Stock Exchange and the Johannesburg Stock Exchange. He also advises clients on general corporate matters, including corporate governance and the ongoing obligations of listed entities.
Monde was previously the General Counsel of Naspers Foundry and as a result has a unique understanding of the legal needs of investors and the role these play in achieving commercial objectives. He has also worked with several start-ups and founder led businesses in their capital raising or as a part of general portfolio management.

- Naspers Foundry, as an existing shareholder, on the US$17 million Series B equity round of Naked, which was led by the International Finance Corporation. Naked is a South African artificial intelligence (AI) driven insurtech company.*
- Naspers Foundry, on its follow on investment into SweepSouth in the 2022 US$11m funding round led by Alitheia IDF.*
- Arkema on its acquisition of Permoseal in South Africa, a leader in adhesive solutions for DIY, packaging and construction.
- Hammerson plc on its capital raise on the London Stock Exchange and the Johannesburg Stock Exchange by way of a rights issue.
