Sarah is a commercial litigator with a focus upon financial disputes and securities class actions.  

Sarah is a commercial litigator in our banking litigation practice and UK class actions practice. Sarah has a particular focus on securities class action litigation and has acted for financial institutions in High Court litigation proceedings, as well as issuers and advisor banks in the securities class actions context. Sarah acted on one of the largest financial cases, and the first (and, to date, only) securities class action, to reach trial in the English Courts.

She is also one of the assistant authors of the leading English practitioner text on class actions, Class Actions in England and Wales, the second edition of which was published in September 2022 by Sweet & Maxwell.

Background

Sarah holds a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Bristol and graduated with distinction in the LPC. Sarah trained with Herbert Smith Freehills in London and qualified as a solicitor in England and Wales in 2015.

  • Lloyds Banking Group and its former directors on a shareholder claim (by way of a group litigation order) arising from the acquisition of HBOS in 2008, alleging negligent misstatement and breach of fiduciary duties
  • Standard Chartered plc in defending a claim brought under both Sections 90 and 90A of the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000 (FSMA)
  • a major global investment bank in connection with shareholder claims brought against it in relation to its role in the IPO of a large company, which filed for bankruptcy shortly afterwards
  • Royal Sun Alliance in defending a claim brought under section 90A FSMA
  • G4S Limited in defending a claim brought under section 90A FSMA.
