Shannan is a senior associate in the disputes team.
Shannan advises clients on both criminal and regulatory investigations and compliance, and advises a wide range of clients on internal and external investigations.
Shannan also advises companies on their internal anti-bribery and corruption, anti-money laundering and sanctions compliance procedures and advises on due diligence exercises and contractual protections in relation to compliance in the context of corporate and finance transactions.

- a Gulf state owned company in relation to a major compliance review of its domestic and international operations. The matter has involved undertaking risk assessments for most of the major divisions of the business, interviewing staff and whistleblowers, reviewing structured and unstructured data, advising on compliance best practice, taking remedial steps in respect of wrongdoing identified and managing the client’s interactions with local authorities
- a mining company in relation to an independent investigation regarding allegations of bribery and corruption by local authorities
- a mining company in respect of potential legal and reputational implications including investigations into charitable payments made by the company and assisting the company to remediate issues identified including enhancements to policies and procedures
- a US based engineering and construction company operating in the Middle East in relation to an internal investigation regarding the accuracy of information provided to local government officials
- a US-based engineering and construction company on a high-profile fraud and corruption investigation by Hong Kong Independent Commission Against Corruption relating to the construction of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge Project
- an international company in relation to a Serious Fraud Office investigation
- a publicly listed Australian company in relation to foreign bribery allegations in Papua New Guinea
- a non-executive director of a major Australian bank in relation to an investigation by the Australian Securities & Investments Commission following the banks prosecution for anti-money laundering breaches
