Stuart Barrymore
Stuart is a senior member of the Australian energy and resources team in Perth.
A partner since 1988, Stuart advises clients in the energy and resources industry, and acts for many major oil and gas producers operating in Australia. He specialises in major project acquisition and divestment, join venture structuring, development and financing (particularly for LNG projects) and project gas chain issues (equity lifting).
He is consistently recognised by international industry and professional guides as a leading energy and natural resources practitioner. Stuart was closely involved in advising on the transition of the treaty (between Australia and Timor-Leste) and associated legislation and arrangements in relation to the Timor Gap.
Stuart has advised operator/participants in: the North West Shelf Project; the Bayu-Undan Darwin LNG Project; QCLNG Project; Macedon Gas Project; Greater Sunrise; Papua LNG and numerous Carnarvon Basin ventures; his acquisition and divestment experience includes upstream transactions in Australia, Asia, Papua New Guinea, Africa and New Zealand and pipeline privitisation and trade sales.
Background
Stuart has an Honours degree from the University of Western Australia and a Masters degree from Cambridge University.
Stuart is a member of the Australian Mining and Petroleum Law Association, the Association of International Petroleum Negotiators and the Australian Petroleum Producers and Explorers Association. He has written extensively on energy and regulatory matters.
