Thies Deike is a Counsel in our Frankfurt Corporate Team focusing on IT matters.
He has more than 20 years of experience advising clients on digital transformation projects, outsourcing and other technology transactions as well as commercial contracts, consumer protection law and IT-related intellectual property matters. Clients include buyers of IT services with a special focus on financial institutions and FinTechs as well as IT service providers, online platforms, software manufacturers and other tech companies. Thies also advises strategic and financial investors when investing in or acquiring companies from these sectors.
Thies has a deep understanding of the commercial, operational, and technical implications of the projects he works on. This enables him to consider aspects beyond purely legal matters and to facilitate alignment with non-legal stakeholders. His expertise includes the specific regulatory requirements relating to outsourcing in the financial services industry.

Background
Thies graduated with his First German State Exam at Ruprecht-Karls University of Heidelberg in 1997 and with his Second German State Exam at the Higher Regional Court of Freiburg in 1999. He speaks German and English fluently. Prior to joining Herbert Smith Freehills, he worked with Latham & Watkins LLP.
