The Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy and the Ministry of Justice have jointly launched a consultation on reforming the employment tribunal system, seeking views on how proposals for reform of the wider court and tribunal system should be applied in the employment tribunals and EAT.

The proposals include increasing delegation of some case management functions to caseworkers and online decision-making in certain claims. Because the changes to employment tribunals and the EAT will require amendments to primary legislation (whereas other bodies can be reformed by secondary legislation), they are expected to be among the last to be implemented.
