Herbert Smith Freehills colleagues from London, Hong Kong, Shanghai and Dubai offices have contributed four chapters to the eighth edition of the Guide to Global Investigations published by the Global Investigations Review.

The chapters on Asia-Pacific, China and Middle East provide an overview of the corporate investigations landscape in those regions, focusing on a range of topics, including enforcement risks, grounds for initiating regulatory investigations and challenges of internal investigations specific to the region.

The chapter on negotiating global settlements considers the options available to corporates seeking to settle criminal and related proceedings in England and Wales, including civil recovery orders, Deferred Prosecution Agreements and negotiated plea agreements. The London team worked with leading criminal silk, Nicholas Purnell KC, from Cloth Fair Chambers on this chapter.

The chapters can be accessed through the links below:

  1. Asia-Pacific Overview
  2. China
  3. Middle East Overview
  4. Negotiating Global Settlements: The UK Perspective

If you have any questions regarding any aspect of the chapters, or our practice more generally, please do not hesitate to reach out to one of our colleagues (contact details listed below) or your regular Herbert Smith Freehills contact.

We wish to thank our colleagues Valerie Tao, Tracey Cui, Jessica Chappatte and Eamon McCarthy-Keen for their contributions to the chapters.
